Back to Africa

Africa 2012 249 Africa 2012 261 Africa 2012 365Hello, Faithful Readers!  Try not to cry too much, but today’s post does not include a recipe.  I know, I know, I’m toying with your emotions.  The purpose of today’s post is to tell you that I will not be posting for a couple of weeks because my husband and I are going to Rwanda on a mission trip!  We went last summer, and it was a truly life-changing experience.  We have been waiting anxiously for a whole year to return to that beautiful country with even more beautiful people.  Who knew that Africa would steal our hearts like it did last year?

While we are there, we will be serving orphans and widows just as James 1:27 commands — “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”  We will be playing with orphans and loving on them, showing them that they are not forgotten in this world, and that they have a Heavenly Father who loves them deeply.  If you would like to follow along with our adventures in Africa, I have a separate blog that I will be updating while we are there.  It’s jamesonetwoseven.wordpress.com.  I’d love for you to be read the blog and be praying for us while we are on this journey!

Thanks for stopping by!  See you in 2 weeks!

  1. Hi Lindsay, I just read most of you post on the jamesonetwoseven.wordpress.com. site. i have been broken beyond repair. I will never be the same again after reading these two pieces of your article,

“At one point, we read a verse in Psalm that says “God defends the orphans.” The boys literally had a physical reaction to that verse. It was like they were shocked that God would ever notice, much less defend them as orphans. Jean Baptiste looked at me and said, “This verse touches my heart in a special way.” That’s what it’s about y’all. This is why we go.

Jean Baptiste is a young man I met at Noel orphanage. When he received his bible he said, “This Bible will help me so much. It will give me a whole new spirit. I will read it every night, and it will improve everything about my life — my behavior, my attitude, how I treat others…this is EVERYTHING!”

This makes me ashamed of anything I have grumbled about or not been thankful for. God forgive us for our unthankfulness!

My life now will never be the same. I could hardly read this for the tears and heart felt love from my God toward these children and the love He is showing them through you! My wife and I have just rededicated our lives to God recently and begun a new walk with Him! This has blessed my spirit so much!

Thank you from the spirit of my inner man to yours!
God has great rewards for you in heaven!
Your Brother in Christ Jesus, Charles Keys.

    • I’m so glad you were blessed by reading my missions blog! We truly serve a great and gracious God. Traveling to Africa changed my life completely and made me see Jesus in a whole new way. Thank you for your kind words. I’m happy to hear that you and your wife just rededicated your lives! That’s wonderful! I hope you draw nearer to Him every day!
